
iOS 16.3 and iPadOS 16.3 update brings security keys for Apple ID, also adds support for HomePod (2nd Gen)
iOS 16.3 and iPadOS 16.3 updates have started arriving for compatible iPhone and iPad models. The new operating system update brings Apple ID security keys, improvements, bug fixes, and security updates for iPhones and iPads.

iOS 16.3 update
The iOS 16.3 update brings Apple ID security keys, a new Unity wallpaper that honors black history and culture in observance of Black History Month, as well as other improvements, bug fixes, and security upgrades for your iPhone.

Apple ID security keys are also included, allowing users to increase the security of their account by requiring a physical security key as part of the two-factor authentication process to sign in on new devices. Support for HomePod (2nd generation) has also been added.
iOS 16.3 also updated the SOS emergency call mechanism to prevent accidental emergency calls. Emergency SOS calls now require you to hold and then release the side button with the volume up or down button.
The new iOS update also fixes an issue in Freeform where some sketch strokes made with your finger or Apple Pencil might not appear on shared boards. Fixed an issue where the wallpaper on the lock screen could appear black.
Also fixed a bug that could cause horizontal lines to appear temporarily when starting the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Fixes an issue where the Home Lock Screen widget incorrectly displays the status of the Home app. An issue where Siri might not respond correctly to music requests is fixed.
Fixes issues where Siri CarPlay requests may not have been understood correctly.

iPadOS 16.3 update
Along with other improvements, bug fixes, and security updates for your iPad, iPadOS 16.3 also introduces Apple ID security keys.
Support for the new HomePod (2nd generation) is included in this release, making it easy to pair your iPhone with Apple HomePod (2nd generation) and share music between them.
Additionally, the iPadOS 16.3 update fixes an issue in Freeform where some drawing strokes made with the Apple Pencil or your finger may not appear on shared boards. Also fixed an issue where Siri might not respond correctly to music requests.
